Cybersecurity in the Local Government Sector in Poland: More Work Needs to be Done

Although cybersecurity is an important and complex issue that should be addressed by all government levels, so far little research has been devoted to at the local level. Existing literature lacks information on whether municipalities have implemented policies, if such policies are applied in practice what they encompass. A CAWI method was used collect required data. The results indicate while most a document defining their security policy, do not always apply it practice. There still awareness regarding countering cyber-attacks. Therefore, more emphasis placed issues as: integrating into management, rising threat of cyber-attacks, consultations with auditors, management training. Based Polish municipalities, described this paper partly fills identified gap.
